Local Update 6/3

Something for me to do when I'm bored...

Here are some photos of where I am and what I'm doing for June. (Writers block. Artist block. All block. pretty much looking at nude women on the tumblr...)

The lobby of the apt I moved in in Chicago

The last 2 pictures are of my place in Chicago. A skate away from Wilson Skatepark. I was in it for 2 hours then had to go to West Lafayette (where my aunt's market is located).

There you have it.

Quote: Tennesee Wiliams

There are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ people. Some are a little better or a little worse, but all are activated more by misunderstanding than malice. A blindness to what is going on in each other’s hearts… nobody sees anybody truly but all through the flaws of their own egos. That is the way we all see …each other in life. Vanity, fear, desire, competition— all such distortions within our own egos— condition our vision of those in relation to us. Add to those distortions to our own egos the corresponding distortions in the egos of others, and you see how cloudy the glass must become through which we look at each other. That’s how it is in all living relationships except when there is that rare case of two people who love intensely enough to burn through all those layer of opacity and see each other’s naked hearts. Such cases seem purely theoretical to me…”

Artist Spotlight: Joan Cornella

I just realized I only posted 1 thing in 2012.

2013 will be different.

For my restart of my blog I'm having a little spotlight on an artist named Joan Cornella.
I haven't been affected by an artist like I am of Joan in a long time. Amazing fucking work that will speak for itself.

Here are my favorites:

Absurd beauties!
If you love these you should go and buy the prints of this collection of work.
He's selling some of them HERE.

These comic-esque paintings have been extremely insightful to me. They bring out the idea of "montage" and cutting. It helps me understand how our minds operate with sequence and the sadness and humor that can be manipulated with each cut. ( I'm assuming  his understanding of the cut comes from being a comic artist  since comics are quite cinematic.)

This work reminds me of this video:

Ok guys, fuck. I'm coming back. I tried starting a new blogspot blog, but shit got boring. There's just too much history here to abandon it all.

I have some film to develop.

I'll be redesigning this site.

and oh and fucking update.

So I moved out of NY.
It doesn't make sense for me to stay there. Not in that environment. I doesn't feel right. I had to go. It's a placed structured for professionals and at my age and with the art I do I'm not deemed a "professional". I'm just starting understanding what the hell I'm doing. Rent is high and I dont relate to many people. Whatever. That's that.

I moved to Chicago with my girlfriend, Aly. She'll be auditioning for theatre and film while I plan to write and audition as well.

As of right now, I'm actually in West Lafayette helping my Aunt at her Asian Market Grocery Store. I'll be here til July.

Shit.. so many things happened since my last post. I've directed a coupla plays. Shit so much. but fuck the past for now.

Lastly, I finally have the guts to capitalize my "I"'s.

I'll be posting more things. Fuck.

I'm coming back in some form or another. I got a couple of poems. Nothing happens when life is mediocre. So I'm psyched to come back. One form or another.

I was recently interviewed by a friend that's writing for a spanish arts and architecture magazine. Speaks mainly about cultural backgrounds and an artist's "job". Have a look.

This blogspot takes too much time to use properly. I got new photos on my flickr so go and check them out! I've been busy with other things and we'll see where this blog goes from here.
