Artist Spotlight: Joan Cornella

I just realized I only posted 1 thing in 2012.

2013 will be different.

For my restart of my blog I'm having a little spotlight on an artist named Joan Cornella.
I haven't been affected by an artist like I am of Joan in a long time. Amazing fucking work that will speak for itself.

CKICK HERE FOR HIS BLOG

Here are my favorites:

Absurd beauties!
If you love these you should go and buy the prints of this collection of work.
He's selling some of them HERE.

These comic-esque paintings have been extremely insightful to me. They bring out the idea of "montage" and cutting. It helps me understand how our minds operate with sequence and the sadness and humor that can be manipulated with each cut. ( I'm assuming  his understanding of the cut comes from being a comic artist  since comics are quite cinematic.)

This work reminds me of this video:

COME BACK

Ok guys, fuck. I'm coming back. I tried starting a new blogspot blog, but shit got boring. There's just too much history here to abandon it all.

I have some film to develop.

I'll be redesigning this site.

and oh and fucking update.
Fuck.

So I moved out of NY.
It doesn't make sense for me to stay there. Not in that environment. I doesn't feel right. I had to go. It's a placed structured for professionals and at my age and with the art I do I'm not deemed a "professional". I'm just starting understanding what the hell I'm doing. Rent is high and I dont relate to many people. Whatever. That's that.

I moved to Chicago with my girlfriend, Aly. She'll be auditioning for theatre and film while I plan to write and audition as well.

As of right now, I'm actually in West Lafayette helping my Aunt at her Asian Market Grocery Store. I'll be here til July.

Shit.. so many things happened since my last post. I've directed a coupla plays. Shit so much. but fuck the past for now.

Lastly, I finally have the guts to capitalize my "I"'s.

I'll be posting more things. Fuck.

START A NEW

I'm coming back in some form or another. I got a couple of poems. Nothing happens when life is mediocre. So I'm psyched to come back. One form or another.

WRITINGS

Couldn't Have Finished

I was sitting by the rocks near the beach
over-looking
the seascape
with a man fishing for oil standing on one leg
the other leg up and around
which made him look like a flamingo
but he wasn’t pink or white
staring out in the water
I walked over to him because he told me he had something to say
he said
"Isn’t it sad when the water rises and lowers but all you can do is
blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah
blah blah
blah"
